March of Dimes Ride on the Talladega Racetrack

Click on small pics for larger views- thanks again to Mz. Krickett to taking these...

Getting ready to leave out for Talladega - we haven't heard an official bike count yet, but we've heard around 200 bikes from the Montgomery area rode up together. The Montgomery Police Department gave us an escort to the edge of town (no, they didn't run us out!)
On the road!

Here are some pictures that Ms. Sarah took. Click on the small ones to see a larger version.

Here are our bikes in the parking lot of Burlington Coat Factory; this is where we registered and lined up for the trip.
On the way up, we took a water break in Sylacauga in a church parking lot. As you can see, the parking lot was almost full of bikes.
Here's a shot from another angle - all kinds of bikes, every color and size you can imagine.
Sarah and Billy's trike - goodlooking bike!
Here we are driving into the park.
The gates going into the park.
The tunnels going under the stands- what a feeling to drive your bike through the tunnel and come out on the track!
Here we are, waiting to get our turn on the track.
And here we go!

We were told to ride on the lower part of the track, below the yellow stripe. Although Talladega is the fastest track in the US, we had to hold our speeds under 60 MPH.
