National Women's Ministries Day

Sunday, February 23, marked National Women's Ministries Day in the Assemblies of God. Our local church celebrated with a patriotic service in honor of our local service men and women who have recently been deployed.

Women in the church served in all capacities of the service. Several ladies greeted guests as they entered the foyer, handed out bulletins and made sure that guests found a comfortable place to sit. The women's choir sang several praise songs. Beth Rogers read the Sunday School report. Joanne King read the announcements and prayer requests. Sara Davis led the church in prayer. Ellie Lyons sang while being accompanied by Ms. Becky Welch. Becky then played some patriotic songs and had members of the congregation stand in honor of their family members who served in the different branch of the Armed Services. Beth Rogers, Brenda Mills, Sarah Davis and Lisa Defee sang, while Lisa accompanied them on the piano.

The morning message was brought by Ellie Lyons, who did an excellent job. The service was concluded with a candle-lighting ceremony while Erica Defee sang "I'm Proud to be An American".
